Notes & Errata for the EA Eprom Programmer, Described in EA, September 1993. ============================================ The eight LED's buffered by U8 (74HC245) can draw considerable rail current (>60mA) when switched at the same time. This has caused reported problems with CMOS 27C128 Eproms. However, it is very likely that this can cause problems with other Eprom type's as well. It is highly recommended to change the eight LED dropper resitors (R37-R44) from 390ê to >1Kê. Even if you are not having any problems at present, this modification should be carried out, as the value of 390ê for the LED droppers is far to low for this application. Another option is to remove the LED's altogether, as they do not serve much useful purpose, other than for debugging. The above reported problem was the same with both my own PCEB programmer software, and Glen Pure's software. Both of which were reviewed in the November 1994 issue of EA. Regards, David L.
